Need help? Here's everything you need to know about using Dance Tutor.
Video Tutorials
- Overview — a quick walkthrough of the app
- Speed Control — how to slow down or speed up dance playback
Getting Started
When you first open the app, an account is created automatically for you. To personalise your profile, go to Settings and add a display name, email address, and password. Your display name is what appears on the leaderboards.
Browsing Dances
The main screen shows all available dance videos uploaded by the community. Each dance displays its title, genre tags, the number of times it has been downloaded, and the highest score anyone has achieved on it. Tap a dance to preview it before deciding to practise.
Practising a Dance
- Tap a dance from the list to open it.
- Press Start Session to begin. The video plays as your reference.
- Follow along and perform the moves.
- At the end of the session your score (0–100) is recorded and submitted to the leaderboards.
You can repeat a dance as many times as you like — every session is counted toward your streak and dances-done totals.
Uploading a Dance
- Tap the + button in the dance list.
- Choose an MP4 video from your library.
- Give the dance a title and optional genre tags (e.g. hip-hop, beginner).
- Enable Blur Face if you'd like the app to cover your face during playback to protect your identity.
- Tap Upload. The dance will appear in the community list once it finishes uploading.
You can delete a dance you uploaded at any time by opening it and tapping Delete.
Leaderboards
Three leaderboards refresh every 30 days:
- Best Scores — the top 10 users ranked by their single highest session score.
- Dances Done — the top 10 users ranked by total number of sessions practised.
- Streaks — the top 10 users ranked by their longest run of consecutive days practising.
Each dance also has its own leaderboard showing who scored highest on that specific video.
Managing Your Profile
In Settings you can update your display name, email address, and password at any time. Your year of birth and sex are used to calculate age-group statistics and are never shown publicly.
Removing a Downloaded Dance
If you imported a community dance and later delete it from your device, the app will automatically remove your download record so it no longer counts toward that dance's download total.
